Fall Protection

Fall protection requirements may apply to a variety of tasks and college departments. If an employee is required to work on a walking/working surface (horizontal or vertical), with an unprotected side or edge four feet or more above a lower level, they must be protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest or restraint systems.

  • Departments are responsible for developing site-specific, written fall protection plans.
  • EHS will help determine the need for fall protection for specific tasks or work areas, assist with written plans, and help choose the most appropriate equipment.
